Facial Fun

Last night I went to a friends house and had some "facial fun" at her Mary Kay party. It has been a LONG time since I have been to a Mary Kay party. We had one at our house in college, but that was a good 12 years ago or so! It's been quite some time since I have tried the products.

The Mary Kay consultant is my friend's Mother-in-Law who just recently moved to our area. She has been doing Mary Kay for 37 years and of course has her pink Cadillac! (How cool!!!!!)

I loved the Time Wise facial care products. They have combined the cleanser, exfoliate and toner into one product! LOVE that idea! Who has time to use 12 different products?? (Ok - so 12 is an exaggeration - but you know what I mean!) As you know from my last blog post, I have been wanting a new facial care routine - so I was excited to try & buy this!

After the 3-in-1 cleanser comes the moisturizer. I also loved this.... and bought it. Our consultant explained that Mary Kay has a 100% satisfaction guarantee and if we buy something that doesn't end up working or we don't like it, we can return it and she encouraged us to do that. This is very reassuring to me b/c the products weren't cheap and I would hate to spend this much money on something that I use for a week and decide it isn't working for me. She said to NEVER let the Mary Kay items into your "cosmetic cemetery" - you know - that box that is under your bathroom sink holding all the "mistakes" you've bought over the years. :)

The Time Wise set included foundation - I went with the Mineral Powder. I loved the light and even finish it gave me. I am not a liquid foundation type person.

And just for fun, I did purchase the Downtown Brown lipstick - which I LOVED!

AND the Cream & Sugar lip gloss! They actually look great together too!

I had to stop there b/c I was worried my husband would FLIP OUT if I spent any more money! Our consultant CRACKED me up with her HUP payment plan though. HUP - Husband Unawareness Plan.... you can use a little cash, write a small check and put a little on a credit card! haha! I resisted the HUP plan.... this time. :)

But I do have a wish list and will save my "spare change" to get the eyesicles, the Time Wise Eye Cream and the Satin Hands set. Loved those products too!

Tag.... I'm it.

I was tagged by my friend Darcy at http://www.dsdailylife.blogspot.com/

....to talk about our daily "beauty" routines.

Sorry to disappoint you all, but my beauty regime is pretty simple!!! I will even let you in on this little secret.... I usually put my make up on at stop lights on my way to work. Yes - I'm "that lady"! I know I shouldn't do that. But my office is very, VERY casual and I guess I've just gotten into a bad habit. I need to stop!! Now that I've let the cat out of the bag.... I'll try to really make an effort to put my make-up on in my house! Deal? My morning is hectic though and I hate, hate, hate hot humid bathrooms and spend as little time in there as possible. (My husband takes WAY to long in the shower!! heehee!)

Although I'm pretty simple, there is one product that I am NEVER without. My blistex! I'll admit it, I'm addicted. In fact, it's sitting right here by my mouse as I'm "working". There is always one in my pocket and usually one in my purse too.

I wash my face in the shower each morning with this Clean & Clear facewash. I've been using it since High School and have never really tried many others. I probably should though as I am clearly not a teenager anymore! :)

To stick with the Clean & Clear brand, I typically put some of this Oil-Free Dual Action lotion on my face after I get out of the shower. I really, really want to change my facial lotion and get something that is for anti-aging. I've stood in the facial lotion aisle at Target for dozens of minutes trying to figure out what the heck I should buy and what wouldn't be a waste of my money! There's just too much in that aisle!!

I use Cover Girl powder all year long and sometimes add some bronzer (maybe if I'm going out!).

For my eyes, I use very neutral brown colors - usually 2 shades. I don't think this is the brand I have, but I honestly couldn't tell you. I don't really have a "favorite". Just buy what catches my eye when I'm at the store.

I used to never go without an eye liner, but kind of got out of wearing it b/c the brand I bought was always smudging by the end of the day and looked horrible. I should search for a different kind! I will check out the kinds all of you wonderful, beautiful ladies are using!! :)

I use very black Cover Girl mascara.

My next dirty little secret is that I really do not do anything before bed. I know, I know. I really need to start. I REALLY do want to find a routine and some anti-aging stuff to start using! And I'm glad Nicky started this chain b/c I could use your tips and advice! I am actually headed to a Mary Kay party this weekend, so who knows, maybe I'll leave with something to start using. But - the honest truth is, I go to bed with all my make up on. (And my blistex on my night stand.) Then wash it off in the morning with that Clean & Clear face-wash in the shower!!

Sometimes, I will use this Arbonne Wipe Out eye make up remover. It works great! I will often use this before heading to the pool in the Summer or something like that. (PS - A couple years ago, I tried to sell Arbonne products. It was my husband's brilliant idea. It was a total flop for me. Obviously, I was WAY out of my eliment! :) There are certainly lots of people who do great selling these products and they have some very nice stuff.... but it just wasn't my thing. )

As for my hair.... I use a color protecting shampoo & conditioner. (My genes blessed me with my first grey hairs popping in at age 22!! YIKES!) My favorites are Biolage and Redkin.... although I don't always get to splurge on them!! :) After I get out of the shower I use this Tresemme hair gel.

My hair tends to get very frizzy or "puffy" from the humidity. I put a little of this sleek & shine oil in my wet hair to help with that.

Then I blow-dry, straighten and add a little of this Tresseme Hair Spray.

I use a little Crew Pomade to kep the "fly-aways" out of my face and to help keep the friz and static down in the Winter.

The kids and I both use this Cetaphil body lotion. Great stuff! Love it!

So that's pretty much it! All tips welcomed!!!! :)

My Little Dancing Queen

"I want Dance, I want Dance!" It's the first thing we hear in the morning and the last thing we hear before bedtime! :) Jenna is really quite the Dancing Queen these days! When she says "I want Dance"- she's asking for a specific show & music to dance to. It's The Fresh Beat Band! If you haven't seen The Fresh Beat Band yet, you're really missing out! ;) Just kidding - it's a really cute show and both of my kids LOVE it! I highly recommend DVR'ing it! (It's on Nick.)

The music really gets Jenna going and she even likes to dress up like a ballerina! Check out this video of her dancing!

One I'm sure she will LOVE someday!! :)

God's Hands

Tonight as we were eating supper, Bryce asked if it had started snowing yet. I told him that I didn't think it would start until we go to bed. He then said.... "So, do you think God is holding all the snow in his hands until we go to bed?". I said, "Well, he could be. What do you think?". (After the episode in the grocery store when he wondered where our babies are before they enter Mommy's tummy, I Googled how to deal with situations like this!! I read some good advice that said to just throw the question back at them and ask them what they think? That gives you an idea of how "deep" they are thinking and a better idea of how to answer their question.)

He went on to say, "I think God has lots of buttons he can push. You know, one that says Winter, one that says Summer, one that says Snow and one that says Valentine's Day." I said, "Wow, that would be pretty cool! How do you think God decides which button to push?" Bryce said, "Well, he knows which day should be Valentine's Day and when he wants it to snow and then he pushes the button and it just spreads everything out all over the world!".

I love hearing their sweet & innocent interpretation of how the world works! It's so adorable! I guess who am I to say though... maybe God does have some buttons he pushes!! :)

Just a cute picture to go with the cute story!

The Great Trade-In

Last week when I went to Toys 'R Us to get a Birthday gift for Jenna, I noticed that they were having a Trade-In sale. If you bring in any old baby gear (car seat, stroller, crib, high chair, etc), you can take 25% off a new piece of baby gear! I think this is a pretty cool sale. Especially if you have car seats that are old, grimy and about ready to meet the expiration mark.

This morning, I took in Jenna's car seat from our van and got her a new one! I saved $45! Wow! :)

She LOVED it and spent all afternoon getting in and out and then having to yell for help when she couldn't unbuckle herself! :)

We decided to bring all the car seats in to clean & re-adjust the straps. When Cory brought Bryce's in from the car and I saw the straps barely fit around him, we thought it would be best to go trade that one in as well. That was a seat we got from a neighbor a few years ago and it is expired now.

So back to Babies 'R Us I went to get another car seat! And saved another $45! :)

We got 2 Graco Nautilius 3 in 1 seats. We already have one that Bryce uses in the van. We LOVE this seat. It is comfortable for him, the headrest is great for sleeping kids and adjusts to the height they need, AND it has a cup holder built into the arm rest. I realize most car seats have cup holders - but they seem to be those plastics pieces that clip on to the side of the seat. Those are so flimsy and Jenna cannot reach her cup when it's there. Anyways - we love the seat and we now have 3 of them. Jenna's car seat in Cory's car still fits her and is only about 18 months old, so we'll keep it for now and upgrade that one next Winter!
I thought I would let you guys know about the sale just in case you are also in need of some new gear! The sale goes through Feb 20th!

Taking Inventory

I'm a little worried that Jenna is going to grow up to be a hoarder! She has this "thing" where she needs to take a variety of items to bed with her. Each night after I put her in her bed, she takes a quick inventory to make sure it's all there! Last night, after I shut her door, she cried and screamed. I walked back in and through her sobs, she kept saying "My Pig, My Pig!". I had forgot to put her toy Piggy Bank in her bed! Seriously!?!?

I'm not sure WHY she insists on taking all this stuff to bed. Is it because she doesn't want anyone to play with it while she's sleeping? Does it really take this many items to get her in her "comfort zone"? Do these items give her sweet dreams? Is it so that she has something to play with when she wakes up at 3am? Does she think I'm going to sell them while she's sleeping? (I've been cleaning house!! ha!) I'm not sure what it is, but it's starting to become an "issue". Soon there isn't going to be room for Jenna! And are we going to need to carry all this stuff over to her big girl bed? (I'm dreading that move!!)

So here's what she took to bed with her last night...

Pink Carebear
Baby #1 (Ryan)
Baby's Blanket #1
Baby's Bottle
Shoes
Elmo Book
2 Doodlebops Books
Bear
Blanket
Puppy (aka Ruf Ruf)
Blaket #2
Baby #2 (Ryan)
Baby's Blanket #2
Piggy Bank
Her favorite shoes
Baby #3
Baby #4
2 Pillows
and her water cup!

There is a little baby at daycare named Ryan, so now all of her baby's are named Ryan! :) It's funny.

I'm not sure what to think about this whole situation. I think we're allowing it to get out of hand! But if you know Jenna, you know that sometimes it's just easier to do what she wants than to try to change her ways. Is it really that big of a deal that she wants to take 21 items to bed with her?!?!

These are the things that make me adore & love her soo much! Her personality is one that is so hard to explain and so incredibly fun!

Miss Pooh turned TWO!

My little baby has turned 2! Unreal! She seemed so much older this weekend! She's quite the "big girl" these days! Her birthday weekend started with a party at daycare. She took cupcakes with Hersey's Hugs and Kisses on top. She got this cute little baby and a pretty outfit from her daycare provider! She loves it!

Scott, Christina, Hayden & Bella came to visit us on Saturday and spent the night. The kids had a GREAT time playing together! They helped us celebrate her birthday on Sunday with a kid friendly lunch (English muffin pizzas!), cake & ice cream and a Happy Birthday song for Miss Pooh!

The cake is definitely not professional, but she liked the pink frosting and definitely enjoyed the way it tasted! :)

2 going on 15! Dangly earrings and all!! :)

Jenna got a pink & black softball glove! I'm not sure who was more excited about this gift.... Bryce or Jenna! :) Bryce and Daddy spend HOURS playing baseball in our front yard every night during the Summer. This year, Jenna will be able to join in with her own glove!!

Adorable!

She also got a Disney Princess scooter! She got a matching Princess helmet for Christmas! I visualize the Summer pictures already!! :)

A family divided! These two boys are VERY competitive and Bryce is a die-hard Bears fan, while Hayden is a die-hard Packers fan! They played Madden football on Wii with their teams.... things got so heated, we had to break the game up and put them on the SAME team!! :) Luckily they always go back to laughing and hugging within a few minutes!! :)

Who are those Hollywood movie stars??! Jenna and Bella found the sunglasses and did a little posing for us!

We had a great weekend and appreciated the company! Thanks for visiting!!! We had fun!
